WHAT IS A "SHUGG WINDOW"?

The Shugg "Sashless" Window is normally available in 4 versions, the most popular of which is the Double Hung Window. The Shugg Double Hung Sashless Window is a counter balanced design incorporating an upper and lower pane with a nominal 100mm overlap at the centre. The window is operated by acrylic lifter blocks bonded to the lower pane, which when raised, permits the upper pane to lower thus opening an equal distance.

In the second version....... the Shugg Servery Sashless Window ( Single Pane opening), the opening pane is counterbalanced by  weights housed in aluminium "box" type sections at the sides of the window. The centre ovelap in this form may be reduced to 50mm for ease of cleaning and maintenance. This form of Shugg Window permits nearly 50% of the overall window height to be available in a single opening, making it ideal, (when bottom pane activated),  to serve food or drinks through, or for ensuring adequate safe height from floor level (top pane activated), when in a hazardous area such as adjacent to a swimmimg pool or first floor or above.

In the 3 - pane version , the Shugg Window is still in Balanced Double Hung Form but with the addition of a fixed bottom , middle or top pane. This allows the operable part of the Shugg Window to be limited to specific areas within the individual window.

The Fixed Bottom Pane type provides similar benefits to the servery window with a fixed bottom pane, especially with taller windows.

The Fixed middle pane type allows for very tall Shugg Window units , up to 6200mm whilst limiting the weight of the operable glass panes. It is also useful when more than the normal 50% window area is required to be opening.

The Top Fixed pane type allows for tall windows to be double hung whilst reducing the maximum height of the acrylic handle or lift.

In the 4 pane form, the Shugg Window has top and bottom fixed panes, with counterbalanced lower middle and upper middle panes. When the lower middle pane is pushed downwards, the upper middle pane rises, opening up the middle portion of the window.

The option of timber or aluminium guides is enhanced by a variety of timber or aluminium frames into which the Shugg Double Hung Sashless Window can be installed. In addition installation to doors, provides the benefit of non - projecting ventilation with the door closed.

Special one-off Shugg Window Sashless designs are available to suit many difficult dimensional situations. Our engineering design team would be pleased to assist with any enquiry.
